Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the clearance of the toll gate at NITK Suratkal will be done in accordance with legal procedures.
Speaking to media persons here on the protests for the clearance of the toll gate, Nalin said that in a democracy people have the freedom to stage peaceful protests and the government has no objection to that.
On Congress supporting the protests, Nalin said that it was a political drama. “When Congress was in power they failed to remove the toll gate and now they are joining people’s protests. Why did Oscar Fernandes not move a proposal for clearing the toll gate when he was the Union Minister? ” he questioned.
Against the backdrop of the Morbi bridge tragedy in Gujarat, Nalin said that the district administration will undertake an inspection to determine the safety of the suspension bridges across the district. Necessary action will be taken on the basis of the technician’s report, he added.
