Bengaluru: The Karnataka Milk Federation’s decision to hike the prices of milk and curds by Rs 3 from November 15 has been taken back following Chief Minister Basawaraj Bommai’s instructions.

A meeting will be held by the CM after November 20 to decide on the hike in prices.

On November 14 Karnataka’s apex body for dairy cooperatives, the Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (KMF), had decided to increase the price of its ‘Nandini’ brand of milk and curd by Rs 3 per liter.

KMF had said that the price revision was necessary considering the inflation and other difficulties faced by the dairy farming community. The benefits of the price increase will be transferred to the farmers, it added.

Soon after KMF’s announcement, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai reportedly called up KMF chairman Balachandra Jharkiholi to keep the decision to hike the prices of milk and curds on hold.

The KMF raised the prices of milk and curds in February 2020.
