A 36-year-old man has been arrested for a security breach at Bengaluru’s HAL Airport just two days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state on November 11.

The arrested has been identified as Mukunda Khaund, a native of Assam has been booked under the Indian Official Secrets Act 1923 and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. He was found hiding near the trolley gate inside this defense airport by the security staff at around 12.50 am on November 9.

He was taken to the control room for investigation and examination of the CCTV footage revealed that he had attempted to scale the airport wall twice near watch tower no. 3 and then managed to gain entry from near the trolley gate.

Upon questioning, Mukund said that he was working as a mason in Assam and came to Bengaluru on November 6 after a fight with his wife. He was reportedly searching for a job and had entered the airport here with the intention of stealing metal.

Few reports said that the accused was staying with his friend’s wife. On the day of the incident, she did not allow him into the house as he was in an inebriated condition.

Meanwhile, it is gathered that officials are not taking this security breach lightly and have directed the Assam police to collect all information about Mukund.
