Bengaluru: The much-awaited report of the fintech task force is almost ready and will be released in Mangaluru in December said Prashanth Prakash, the chairman of Karnataka’s Vision Group for Startups.

Speaking to “Udayavani” on the sidelines of the Bangalore Tech Summit at the Palace Grounds on Thursday, Prakash said that the report of the task force formed under the leadership of Harshil Mathur regarding Financial Technologies (FinTech) will be released in December. He expressed confidence that this report will provide a new blueprint for the growth of the financial technology sector in the state.

Karnataka is already emerging as the “FinTech capital” in the country and there is a need to give more encouragement to the sector. For this, FinTech has to be spread to other cities and metros apart from Bangalore. The report will shed light on the steps that can be taken in this direction, he added.

Most policy matters related to FinTech come under the purview of the Union government. Despite this, there is scope for implementing policies at the state level also. The opportunities and possibilities must be carefully weighed.  And Karnataka, which is already the cradle of startups, needs to give more encouragement to the sector. The report will focus on these 3 issues, Prashanth Prakash said.
