Bantwal: An alleged case of sexual abuse and impregnation of a minor stepdaughter by a stepfather has been reported from Thumbay, falling under the Bantwal Rural Police Station limits.
The accused is identified as Venkatesh Karanth, a resident of Ramnivas at Thumbay.
As per the complaint filed with the police, Venkatesh, purohit (priest) by profession, was sexually abusing his stepdaughter for the past four months and was impregnated.
It is learned that after the death of the victim’s father in an accident, her mother married Venkatesh, and used to stay together.
Meanwhile, based on the complaint, the accused Venkatesh has been arrested.
