Mysuru Dasara tusker Gopalaswamy dead in elephant attack

Mysuru: One of the Mysuru Dasara elephants named Gopalaswamy (39) died here on Wednesday, November 23.
On Tuesday, November 22, Gopalaswamy had gone for grazing in Mathigodu elephant Camp at Nagarahole National Park. During this time, it was attacked by a herd of elephants and was injured.
The tusker was captured at Sakleshpur of Hassan district in the year 2009.
It had participated in the world-famous Mysuru Dasara for the past eight years.
Gopalaswamy used to be deputed in tiger and wild elephant capturing operations.
It is said to be one of the prominent elephants in the Mathigodu Elephant Camp.
