M’luru auto blast: Terror suspects used ‘Dark Web’ to evade detection

Mangaluru: Mangaluru autorickshaw blast accused Mohammed Shariq and his accomplices were also reportedly using the ‘dark web’ for communicating with each other to evade detection by intelligence agencies.
‘Dark web’ is mostly preferred by sophisticated criminals as it grants anonymity. Unlike, mobile or landline connections where calls can be easily traced, the Dark Web has technology that can mask caller information, which can make detection difficult.
The use of the dark web is also allegedly slowing the investigation process in the Mangaluru Blast case.
Cryptocurrency for financing?
Some sources claimed that Shariq also dealt with cryptocurrencies. However, DGP refused to comment on the matter.
It is rumored that Shariq got funding from Gulf countries and that Shraiq’s mentor Mateen Taha is in hiding in the Gulf. However, these claims are yet to be confirmed officially by police.
Shariq on ventilator
Meanwhile, it is learned that Shariq has been put on ventilator support after his health deteriorated.
Police had said Shariq had suffered 45% burn injuries in the explosion. He reportedly also inhaled the toxic fumes from the blast as well as was hit in the neck region by the flying lid of the cooker bomb when it exploded.
To complicate matters further, Shariq has not been in a condition to speak and this has delayed the investigation. Meanwhile, several questions remain unanswered related to the blast, including: Why he got down at Padil? What was the blast target? Who were his backers? etc.
