The next time you are at the railway ticket window, be careful. Social media has brought to light an instance of a cash scam at the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.

A viral video clip, shared by RAILWHISPERS on Twitter, shows a railway employee cleverly defrauding a customer during a cash-based transaction. The booking clerk accepts Rs 500 but uses shady scamming methods to try to dupe the traveller.

When the customer put down a Rs. 500 note to pay for a seat on the Superfast Gwalior train, it was dishonestly exchanged for a Rs. 20 note from the railway worker’s pocket. Later, the clerk is seen asking for payment once more in order to issue a Rs 125 ticket.

The department became aware of this issue after seeing the video that was posted on Twitter. “The employee has been taken up and disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against him,” said a tweet from DRM Delhi NR.
