CM Bommai condoles demise of Yakshagana artiste Sundar Rao

Mangaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai condoled the death of renowned Yakshagana artiste Kumble Sundar Rao, who passed away at his residence here Wednesday morning.
“Saddened to hear about the demise of Kumble Sundar Rao, former president of the Karnataka State Yakshagana and Bayalata Academy and former MLA. May his soul rest in peace. May God give his family strength to bear this loss,” Bommai tweeted in Kannada.
An exponent of ‘Thenkuthittu’ style of Yakshagana, Rao was awarded Yakshamangala award from P Dayananda Pai and P Satish Pai Yakshagana Adhyayana Kendra at Mangalore University for the year 2018-2019.
Rao’s body will be kept at his residence near Pumpwell in the city for people to pay their last respects. The final rites will be held on Thursday, sources said.
