Youth killed in scooter-tipper lorry collision at Katapady junction

Kapu: In a horrible road accident, a youth was killed while another was injured when a tipper lorry hit a scooter at the Katapady Junction on NH-66 here on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Sushikshit Bhandari (20), a resident of Udyavara Kedar. Jaydeep who was driving the scooter was seriously injured in the accident.
Bhandari, employed as a server at a catering company, was riding the pillion with his friend on the scooter from Udyavara to reach the catering venue in Uchila. The tipper lorry moving from Katapady towards Shirva rammed into the scooter at the highway intersection.
Bhandari was seriously injured due to the impact and was rushed to a hospital in Manipal, but breathed his last on the way. Jaydeep is undergoing treatment at the hospital. A case has been registered at Kapu Police Station.
Sushikshit was the only son of Shivanna Bhandari and Sujaya Bhandari. Shivanna runs a small salon shop in Udyavara town. Sushikshit was on the lookout for a better job after completing his graduation.
