Kottigehara: In yet another breakthrough, another of the wild elephants that have claimed three human lives in the past 3 months was successfully captured by the forest department officials.
The second wild elephant was caught at the Talavara village in Mudigere taluk on Saturday.
After protests by locals, the state government had given permission to capture the wild elephants that were tormenting villages in the area. Accordingly, five days ago, the forest department had launched an operation to capture the tuskers.
The team had captured the first elephant on the first day of the operation in Kundra village. However, thereafter the elephant herd remained elusive, evading all tracking efforts by the team including drone cameras.
