New Delhi: Dramatic visuals of a four-storey building collapse in the national capital went viral on social media on Monday.
The incident reportedly occurred in the morning on Monday in North Delhi’s Shastri Nagar.
“No injury or casualties were reported since the building was empty,” a senior police officer said, adding that the incident was reported around 8:45 am.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said the building’s owner Balraj Arora got it vacated in May after it developed cracks. The matter was brought to the knowledge of the municipal agency.
The site was inspected by the MCD, he said.
The moments of the building collapse were captured on video. A few women were seen passing by the building moments before the building crashed like a pack of cards in the narrow lane.
A cloud of dust can be seen swelling from the crash location before the footage cuts off.
