Bengaluru: K’taka cabinet approves revised estimate of Yettinahole Project

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai cabinet has approved the revised estimates of the much-delayed Yetinahole Project on Thursday, December 8.
The revised estimate of the drinking water project is of Rs. 23.251 crores, which was Rs. 12,000 crores while proposed initially.
Addressing the media, State Law Minister J C Madhuswamy said that the cost escalation is observed due to rise in cost of land. He said that the Tumakuru farmers were demanding higher compensation on whose land the government is planning to acquire and build water tanks to store the water from the project.
As per the reports, an estimated 5,860 acres of land has been identified in taluks of Tumakuru and Doddaballapura district for construction of water tanks.

Meanwhile, the cabinet has decided to release 42 prisoners of particular section as per the guidelines of the Centre in relation to “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. Regarding this, a memorandum has been submitted to Governor of Karnataka.
The cabinet has also approved the multi-storey hostel project at a cost of Rs. 4,280 crores with a capacity of 100 students each, at Mangaluru, Mysuru, Hubbbali-Dharwad, Belagavi, and Kalaburagi.
