Bantwal: Melkar Traffic Police have arrested a person in connection with the hit-and-run accident that took place in Talapady near BC Road

The arrested has been identified as Mohammed Sheikh Fazil. The accident took place on December 5 morning when Fazil rear-ended his car into an auto-rickshaw, injuring two of its occupants.

Initially, it was thought that the auto overturned after its driver lost control of the vehicle. Later the injured persons told the police that a car rammed into their auto and escaped from the spot.

Based on this information, the traffic police swung into action and identified the vehicle after examining the CCTV camera in the area.

A day later, the police managed to trace and nab the accused.
