Shivamogga: For the sake of property, the sons of a retired cop got him killed by hiring hitmen, police said.
Police cracked the murder of retired KSRP AR SI Nagedrappa who was found dead in Shiralakoppa in Shikaripura and uncovered this shocking information.
On November 29, the lifeless body of Nagendrappa was found in a drain in Bhogi village of Shiralakoppa. Following this, Shiralakoppa police had taken up the investigation.
The investigation uncovered that Nagendrappa’s sons from his first wife — Manjunath and Umesh — allegedly hired Rizwan, Habibullah, and Suhail of Bhogi village for executing the murder.
Nagedrappa, who had married twice, had transferred his house property to his second wife. Fearing that their father might also transfer other properties to her children, Manjunath and Umesh hatched a plan to kill their father.
The plan was executed when Nagendrappa was returning home after visiting a court in Bhadravati. The accused picked him up in an auto, made him consume a drink laced with sedatives, and later suffocated him to death. They took the body in the same auto and dumped it in the drain.
All five of the accused — Manjunath, Umesh, Rizwan, Habibullah, and Suhail Basha — have been arrested, police said.
Another attempt had failed
Police said the accused had made an attempt to end Nagendrappa’s life but were unsuccessful. On November 9, the accused had tried to kill a bike-borne Nagedrappa by knocking him down with a goods rickshaw. Nagendrappa escaped with his life, however, no complaint was filed about this incident.
