Ex-weightlifter & coach at Alvas College Rajendra Prasad passes away

Puttur: Former national-level weightlifter Rajendra Prasad (42), passed away on December 12 due to a heart attack.
He was serving as the weightlifting coach at Alvas College Moodabidri.
Rajendra Prasad reportedly complained of chest pains in the morning. He visited Chetana Hospital for treatment but died without responding to treatment.
An alumnus of Philomena College Puttur, he had shined at weightlifting competitions at the national level. He was an excellent trainer and had served as a lifting coach at Philomena College, and SDM Engineering College Ujire.
Rajendra Prasad was the mentor of Eklavya awardee Gururaj Pujari who was bronze medalist (silver medalist in 2018) at the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England.
He is survived by his parents, wife, and two daughters.
