‘RRR’ breaks 24-year box office record of Rajinikanth starrer ‘Muthu’ in Japan!

Pan-India movie “RRR” directed by SS Rajamouli, which has made its entry into the nominations of the Golden Globe Awards, has achieved another milestone in box office collections in Japan.

The movie has broken the two-decade-old record of “Superstar” Rajinikanth starrer Tamil movie “Muthu”.

In Japan, “RRR” was released on 209 screens across 44 cities, on October 21, 2022

As per the reports of Hindustan Times, the movie has crossed the box office collection of 400 million JPY (Japanese Yen), which is approximately, RS.24 crores INR.

By this, it has become the highest-grossing Indian film in Japan.

Reportedly, Rajinikanth’s “Muthu” collected Rs. 400 million JPY about 24 years back.

The worldwide collections of the movie have reached Rs. 1114 crores.

“RRR” starring Ram Charan Teja and Junior NTR is setup in the backdrop of the British era and revolt against the British.

The movie is inspired by freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju (portrayed by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (portrayed by Junior NTR).
