K’taka govt constitutes Cabinet sub-committee to make recommendations for SC internal quota

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Government has constituted a Cabinet sub-committee comprising of five members, to conduct a study and make recommendations in relation to the Schedule Caste (SC) internal reservation.
The sub-committee will be headed by State Law Minister J C Madhuswamy.
It will be comprising State Fisheries Minister S Angara, State Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chavan, State Health Minister Dr.Sudhakar, and State Water Resource Minister Govind Karjol.

As per the reports, the sub-committee will likely revive Justice A J Sadashiva Commission Report. In the year 2012, this Report was submitted to the government, recommending the reclassification of the SCs into four groups namely, Right, Left, Touchables, and other SCs.
However, the previous government under former chief minister Siddaramaiah was accused of not implementing it in his chief ministerial tenure from 2013-18.
Meanwhile, in Bengaluru, various leaders of the SC community are staging protests, urging the government to implement the Report at the earliest.
