Bagalkote: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that the congress party will finalize the list of its candidates for Karnataka Assembly elections by January 15 next year.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of SRK Sugar Factory near Belagalla village in Hunagund taluk here, Siddaramaiah said, two teams, led by DK Shivakumar and himself, will tour North Karnataka and South Karnataka regions.
Siddaramaiah said that it is not possible to travel in 224 constituencies at once and hence, two teams will be formed to tour the state. “I will be touring the Mysore region,” he further said.
He also spoke about the state’s boundary dispute with Maharashtra. Siddaramaiah said that the Belagavi issue should not be disputed at all. There is a BJP government in Maharashtra, Karnataka as well as the Center. So, why is there a controversy over Belagavi, he sought to know.
According to the Mahajan report, it was settled in 1962. Belagavi belongs to Karnataka and not an inch will be given away. There is no compromise on the issue of land, water, or language, he asserted.
