Bantwal: Elderly woman critically injured after lorry collides with autorickshaw

Bantwal: An elderly woman was critically injured and four others sustained minor injuries when a tipper lorry rammed into a rickshaw on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 14.
The accident took place at Modankap near B C Road. The autorickshaw driven by Ashraf was moving towards Modankap from Kaikamba. An oncoming lorry in an effort to overtake a bus crashed into the autorickshaw and then hit an electric pole nearby.
Of the occupants on the autorickshaw, Avvamma (70) sustained severe injuries, whereas two women, a 6-year-old child, and driver Ashraf escaped with minor injuries.
The autorickshaw, however, was completely wrecked in the mishap.
Melkar police rushed to the accident scene and have taken up the investigation.
