Bengaluru: Businessman cheated of Rs 1.60 Cr by man claiming to be member of ‘Mysuru royal family’

Bengaluru: A businessman was cheated of Rs 1.60 crore by a man claiming to be a member of the ‘Mysuru royal family’ in Bengaluru.

The victim, a Hyderabad-based software company owner and entrepreneur Rameshwar was looking for a loan.

Claiming to be a member of the Mysuru royal family of Urs, Manoj Kumar along with his friends promised Rameshwar that he will help him get a loan.

He then demanded money as processing and documentation charges from Rameshwar. He allegedly paid Rs 1.60 crore to the accused.

However, even after months, Rameshwar did not receive the loan amount. He then contacted one of the accused who said that Manoj Kumar has passed away and his loan would be delayed.

Despite several efforts, Rameshwar still did not get his amount and he warned the accused of a police complaint. Soon after the accused contacted Rameshwar and asked him to meet them in Budigere.

When Rameshwar’s car reached Golahalli, the accused stopped his vehicle and assaulted him.

Soon after a police complaint was filed and the accused were arrested.  The arrested accused have been identified as Kumar, Ranjith alias Sanjay Kumar, Aditya, and Srikanth Reddy. Manoj Kumar is still absconding.
