Mangaluru: The prime suspect in the cooker bomb explosion incident in the city, Mohammed Shariq, has been shifted to Bengaluru.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar, on Saturday, said that Shariq was shifted to the state’s capital after obtaining the necessary go-ahead from the hospital doctors and other authorities.
Shariq reached Bengaluru at 6 am on December 17, the police commissioner said, adding that his further medical treatment will continue at the Victoria Hospital.
Shariq had received burns and other injuries when a cooker filled with IEDs he was carrying went off unexpectedly in an autorickshaw near Naguri on November 19. Following this, he had been receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru.
A few days earlier, it was reported that his health had improved considerably and the NIA officials, who have taken up the investigation, had interrogated him at the hospital.
