Udupi: The District and Sessions Court on Friday issued a temporary restraining order against another media organization using the trademark of ‘Udayavani’.
Manipal Media Network Ltd. has been publishing coastal Karnataka’s number 1 daily “Udayavani” since 1970. The daily has been published in several editions including Manipal, Bengaluru, Hubli, Kalaburagi, Davangere, and Mumbai.
The company also publishes “Taranga”, “Tushara”, and “Tunturu” magazines regularly.
Manipal Media Network Ltd. said that recently it has been found that an individual named Amaresh Kamanakeri has been misusing its ‘Udayavani’ trademark for publishing Kannada and English news. This has been creating confusion in the minds of the people.
The company filed a suit (O.S. 2/2022) in the Principal District Court, Udupi, which granted a temporary restraining order against Amaresh Kamanakeri to stop him from using the ‘Udayavani’ trademark for publishing in any form.
Further, hearing in the case has been scheduled for January 3
