14 bills to be tabled during winter session of K’taka legislature

Belagavi: As many as 14 bills are likely to be tabled during the winter session of the Karnataka Legislature in Belagavi’s Suvarna Soudha. In addition, an application has been received for tabling a private member bill, said Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council Raghunath Rao Malkapure.
Addressing a press conference at Suvarna Soudha on Sunday, Malkapure said that members have asked 1,452 questions in this session. About 150 questions will be answered, allowing 15 questions every day over the 10 days of the session. Moreover, written replies will be given to more than 900 unstarred questions, he said.
Based on the availability of time, discussion on certain pertinent issues will also be allowed based on the recommendation by the House Advisory Committee, he said.
Member of the Vidhan Parishad N Ravikumar has applied for tabling a private member bill. Another member Venkatesh has petitioned for introducing a Private Resolution. Based on their merits, it will be decided whether to allow them, he said.
An election for the post of Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council is scheduled to be held on December 21. Applications for the post will be received till December 20, he said.
