Woman passenger arrested at airport for smuggling gold worth Rs 1 Cr

Kasaragod: Police officials seized gold worth Rs one crore from a young woman passenger at the Calicut International Airport.
The gold was seized from a passenger who landed at the airport from Dubai on an Air India Express flight. The accused woman has been identified as Mariam Shahla Shehnaz (19) a native of Badiadka.
The Police officials launched an operation based on a credible tipoff that gold is being smuggled. The accused was intercepted in a parking area of the airport and subjected to questioning. She initially refused to answer the questions of the officials, however, the gold was found concealed in the undergarments on a thorough search, police said.
The gold in the form of paste weighed around 1.88 kg, police added.
