Mixer grinder explosion at courier office in Hassan raises concerns

Hassan: At a time when the Mangaluru cooker blast is still afresh in people’s minds, a mysterious explosion of a mixer grinder that had arrived by courier in Hassan has caused concerns.
The incident took place at the DTDC office, K R Puram here, on Monday, December 26. Whether the explosion was intentional or accidental is yet to be ascertained.
Case details:
Two days ago a mixer grinder arrived by courier at the DTDC office. When the delivery partner had gone to deliver the product it was rejected by the receiver saying that they had not ordered it. The rejected product was kept at the office.
On December 26 the courier package exploded and branch owner Shashi sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to a private hospital in Hassan.
Addressing presspersons on the incident, SP Hariram Shankar said that the reason for the blast is yet to be known.
“The forensic science laboratory team from Mysuru will reach the spot for further investigations. A thorough investigation will be held to find out the reason for the blast,” he added.
