Bengaluru: Police seize drugs worth Rs 6.31 crore; 8 held

Bengaluru: In three separate operations, Central Crime Branch officials arrested eight people, including two foreign nationals, and recovered narcotics worth Rs 6.31 crore.

According to authorities, the suspects intended to sell the drugs at New Year’s Eve celebrations.

In the first raid, cops arrested six accused who are residents of Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

They had allegedly obtained the drugs from Nigerians in Goa, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. The accused had rented a residence in Kothanur to store the drugs and planned to sell them at high prices during the New Year’s celebrations.

In another raid, police found 2.3 kg of MDMA, 250 ecstasy tablets, 4kg of hashish oil, 440g of charas, and 7.1 kg of ganja, totaling Rs 6 crore.

Another operation in Electronics City resulted in the arrest of an Ivory Coast national and the seizure of 250g of MDMA worth Rs 25 lakh. A Costa Rican national was also apprehended in Banaswadi, and cocaine and ecstasy pills worth Rs 6 lakh were seized.
