Tragedy on New Year’s Eve: Man dies of ‘shock’ after bullet he fired in air injures youth in Shivamogga

Shivamogga: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly died of ‘shock’ after his celebratory gunfire on New Year’s eve went awry and the bullet “accidentally” hit a youth.

The tragedy took place at a new year’s party at the residence of the deceased man Manjunath Olikar.

Manjunath Olikar, a businessman who ran the Gopal Glass House, had organized a new year’s party at his residence near Sahyadri College in Shivamogga. At around midnight, as the countdown for the new year neared, Manjunath allegedly took out his gun and fired in the air. However, the bullet hit a young man participating in the party.

The young man was seriously injured and was rushed to the Max Hospital for treating the gunshot wounds.

Following the incident, Manjunath reportedly suffered a heart attack and died of ‘shock’.

Kote police rushed to the spot and have taken up an investigation into the incident.
