S M Krishna urges govt to rename Mysuru-Bengalur highway after Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister S.M. Krishna has requested to rename the Mysuru-Bengaluru National Highway 275 after Nalwadi Krishna Raja Wadiyar (Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV).
S M Krishna has written to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Union Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari requesting them to name the newly constructed highway after Wadiyar, who reigned over Mysuru Kingdom from 1902-1940.
Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, during his reign, fostered Mysore’s rich cultural heritage and customs and nurtured the humane version of the community co-existence.
Many development works have taken place during the reign of the Maharaja Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, the former CM said adding that Krishna Raja Sagar Dam being the greatest achievement of the erstwhile king. For his benevolence, Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV was popularly called Rajarshi, or ‘saintly king’, a moniker which was given by Mahatma Gandhi in appreciation of the Maharaja’s administrative achievements, Sm Krishna said.
