Bagalkote: The ashes of Siddheshwara Swamiji were immersed at the river confluence at Koodalasangama here on Sunday morning.
Lingayat seers led by the president of Vijayapura Jnana Yogashram Sri Basavananda Swamiji, arrived at the pilgrimage site of Koodalasangama in a vehicle at 5 am carrying the ashes from Vijayapura Jnana Yogashram. As the vehicles approached the Koodalasangama cross, thousands of devotees joined the vehicles in a procession.
A puja was offered to the urns containing the ashes at Kudala Sangam. Thereafter, the ashes were taken to the confluence spot of the Ghataprabha, Malaprabha, and Krishna rivers in a boat specially decorated with flower garlands. The ashes were immersed in the confluence considered to be a holy place by the Lingayats.
The vehicle later proceeded towards Gokarna for immersion of his skeletal remains (Asthi Visarjan).
