Uppinangady: Restaurant closed down for allegedly serving worm-infested food

Uppinangady: Taking serious note of the viral post about unhygienic food being served to customers at an eatery here, a team led by Puttur Tahsildar on instructions from DK Deputy Commissioner reportedly raided a restaurant and shut it down.
Viral images being shared on Social media alleged that worm-infested chicken was served to customers at the restaurant.
According to reports, a team of Puttur Tahsildar Nisarga Priya and Uppinangady Sub-Tahsildar Chennappa Gowda, among others conducted a surprise raid at the restaurant in question on Thursday night. During the raid food items being served were inspected for hygiene standards. Samples of some dishes were also collected and sent for testing.
The officials found that the eatery was running without requisite licenses from the panchayat, food department, and health department for the hotel industry. Hence, the restaurant was reportedly shut down.
