Chikkamagaluru: Parents of a 19-year-old have expressed outrage over police inaction in arresting a BJP worker in the abetment to suicide case of their daughter.

The victim Deepti, 17, had consumed poisonous substance on January 10. She passed away at a hospital in Mangaluru on January 14 without responding to treatment.

Deepti had left behind a death note in which she accused Hitesh (25), a BJP party worker of cheating her in love. Her parents had approached the Kudremukh police to file a complaint against Hitesh but the police reportedly did not file an FIR.

It was only after the intervention of SP that the police lodged their complaint. However, her parents alleged that the police have not yet arrested the accused.
