Udupi: India’s jurisprudence is a model for the world , said former Karnataka Chief Minister Dr M Veerappa Moily here on Sunday and added that while the judicial system around the world was shackled by religion, Indian jurisprudence has functioned independently since time immemorial due to many Maharishis.

He was speaking at the event of the Sanskriti Vishwa Pratishthana at the Muddanamantapa of MGM College for conferring the ‘Vishwaprabha’ award to the Managing Editor of “Taranga” Weekly Dr. Sandhya S. Pai.

Language, literature, and culture form the bedrock of every civilization. When they grow deep, peace settles in the world. All civilizations in the world have found solace and peace through language, literature, and culture in their own way, he said.

Moily said ‘Dharma’ means opening the path of love. To find solutions to everyday problems, we should go approach science or find solutions from ancient human religion, he added.

Further, he said that there is a need to think seriously about maintaining global peace along with internal peace. Even when there is an absence of war, exploitation, as well as denial of human rights, can create unrest in society.

Since 1970, “Udayavani” newspaper has rendered invaluable service to the development of the coastal region. Taranga Weekly features thought-provoking articles on global issues. This is the reason why Taranga has attracted thousands of readers. “The full credit for this goes to Dr Sandhya Pai. Through her prolific writing, she has opened up new dimensions socially and culturally,” he said heaping praises.

Living is worthwhile if it bring change in others life: Dr Sandhya Pai
