Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a woman was stabbed by a friend for refusing to remarry a second time. The incident took place in RT Nagar police station limits.
Police arrested the accused, Sheikh Mehboob, for attacking and injuring the woman identified as Habib Taj (30), a resident of R T Nagar.
Habib Taj, a mother of two children, lost her husband a few years ago. She met her friend from school Sheikh Mehboob after her husband’s passing. They became close.
After a while, Mehboob, who is already married, started pestering Habib to get married to him. When she refused, Mehboob allegedly asked her to have an extramarital affair with him, which was also turned down.
Unable to accept the rejection, Mehboob arrived at Habib’s rented residence at 11 pm on Sunday and picked a fight. In the heat of the argument, he stabbed her and fled from the spot.
The house owner, who witnessed the incident, informed Habib’s sister about it and got her admitted to a nearby hospital.
Police said Habib is out of danger and is responding well to treatment. Meanwhile, Mehboob has been arrested and an investigation is underway, police added.
