Muddebihal: The JD(S) party’s Pancharatna Yatra here, which was scheduled to be held today morning, has been pushed to 4 pm on Saturday.

The decision to postpone the event was made following the sudden death of the party’s Sindagi candidate Shivananda Patil Somajala.

Earlier, Dr. C S Solapura, the JD(S)’s Muddebihal candidate, had announced that the Yatra will resume on Sunday, January 21.  However, it was decided to resume the yatra on Saturday itself after the completion of the funeral ceremony of Shivananda Patil Somajala.

Earlier, Dr. C S Solapura, the Muddebihal candidate announced by JD(S), informed the media that party supremo and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy proposed the Yatra be postponed as a mark of respect to the deceased leader. “JDS is a party that respects each and every one of its members. It isn’t right to hole the Yatra during the sudden demise of one of its announced candidates,” he said.
