M’luru: Soldier Muralidhar Rai dies of heart attack; funeral on Jan 25

Mangaluru: Havaldar Muralidhar Rai (37), who was serving in Bhopal in the Sashastra Sima Bal (SSB), died of a heart attack on Monday.
He reportedly suffered a heart attack in his sleep in Bhopal on the night of Sunday. His companions found him unresponsive on Monday morning. Later, the doctors confirmed Rai had died of a heart attack.
Muralidhar Rai, a resident of Shaktinagar in Mangaluru, joined the SSB in 2007 as a constable. It is learnt that Rai had a conversation with his wife hours before his death. He was scheduled to return home on Tuesday on a two-week vacation for holding rituals on the first anniversary of his mother’s death.
He is survived by his wife and a 7-month-old child.
Funeral on January 25
havildar Muralidhar’s mortal remains were flown to Mangaluru Airport from Bhopal. Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar MR, Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Madan Mohan, and others paid their last respects to the departed soldier.
The body has been kept at a mortuary of a private hospital. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at Shaktinagar.
