Kunigal: Bear gets stuck on a tree, rescued

Kunigal: A three-year-old male bear got stuck on a Sapota tree and was rescued by the forest officials at Kadaboranahalli village in Huliyoordurga Hobli of the taluk on Thursday.

The bear which had wandered into a farm in search of food, got entangled in a wire tied to the branch of a Sapota tree on the farm belonging to Rajanna in Kadaboranahalli.

The villagers, who noticed the bear in trouble, informed the forest officials. The bear was tranquilized with a dart gun and rescued by the forest officials. The bear was later released into the wild at a safer location.

Deputy Conservator of Forests Anupama, Range Forest Officer Mohammed Mansoor, and Bannerghatta Wildlife Division Veterinary Officer Umashankar participated in the operation.
