Kasaragod: One arrested with 1.3 kg of smuggled gold at railway station

Kasargod: A man, who arrived by train here, was arrested for smuggling gold.
Mohammed Fahis (34), a resident of Citizen Nagar in Cherkala, was arrested by the customs team after he arrived at Kasargod station by train. Gold weighing 1.300 kg was found hidden inside the motor of electrical equipment in his bag during inspection. The gold worth Rs 76 lakhs was confiscated.
The accused was intercepted based on a credible tip-off about gold smuggling. Kasargod Customs Unit team headed by Superintendent P T Rajeev conducted an operation at the railway station and nabbed the accused.
