Mudigere MLA MP Kumaraswamy sentenced to 4 yrs in prison in cheque bounce case

Bengaluru: BJP MLA from Mudigere, M.P. Kumaraswamy was reportedly convicted in a cheque bounce case by a special court for people’s representatives on Monday.

Kumaraswamy had borrowed Rs 1.35 crore from Hoovappa Gowda and had furnished 8 cheques for its repayment. However, these cheques had bounced, following which Goda filed a court case.

Justice J Preet, who heard the case, held M P Kumaraswamy guilty and sentenced him to six months in jail for each of the eight cheque bounce instances.

If the loan amount is not paid immediately, the MLA will have to serve 4 years in jail.
