Two day Mangaluru Lit Fest to begin today

Mangaluru: The 5th edition of Mangalore Litfest is being held on February 18 and 19 with the hope of shedding new light on many burning issues of the society.
Mangaluru Lit Fest, organised by Bharat Foundation, will be held at the city’s TMA Pai International Convention Centre under the theme “The Idea of Bharat”. More than 50 subject experts will hold lectures and discussions.
This time actor-director Rishabh Shetty of Kantara fame artist Prakash Belawadi, journalists Smita Prakash, and Shiv Aroor, Ajit Hanamakkanavar, RSS leader Ram Madhav, litterateur Addanda C Cariappa, and Dakkala Muniswamy among others are maong the list of speakers. Two movies will also be screened.
Mangaluru Lit Fest has a section dedicated for Tulu language. Tukaram Poojary, president of Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre, will be presented an award. Tulu book stalls, Tulu alphabet learning workshop, discussion with authors (Harate Katte) to develop children’s literary taste and parents’ interest in stories is the specialty of this time’s Litfest.
The literature festival will begin at 10 am on February 18 with the inaugural session by Dr N Vinay Hegde, R Jagannathan and V Nagaraj.
