Bengaluru: With just a few months to go for the state assembly elections, more leaders are joining the JD(S) from other parties.

Former MLA Veerabhadrappa Halaravi, former MLC S.L. Ghotnekar, and former Kolar Zilla Panchayat vice president Vadagur Harish Gowda, along with their supporters, joined the JD(S) in the presence of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and party state president C M Ibrahim.

Veerabhadrappa Halaravi quit BJP and joined the JD(S) whereas S.L. Ghotnekar and Vadagur Harish Gowda left the Congress party.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and C M Ibrahim welcome the three leaders into the party fold by presenting the party flag at a function held at the party office at JP Bhavan here today.

Speaking on the occasion, former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that the party is getting widespread support among the masses. “We have already undertaken Pancharatna Yatra in 70 constituencies. People had gathered in large numbers in north Karnataka as well. Everywhere the crowd gathered was more than expected,” he said.

JDS will win at least 6 out of the 18 seats in Belagavi and at least 4 seats in Karwar, he added.
