Kadaba: A woman was allegedly beaten up by her uncle when she had been to inquire about the well-being of her parents at Amai village in Kadaba  Taluk on February 20.

Yashoda, wife of Ramanna Gowda of Bellandur in Kadaba said her paternal uncle Dharmapala physically and verbally assaulted her.

Yashoda, an ASHA worker in Belandur, had been to her parent’s residence on the evening of February 20 to inquire about their wellbeing. Her uncle Dharmapala reportedly used derogatory words against her. When Yashoda questioned this, Dharmapala allegedly beat her with a stick and issued death threats.

Yashoda, who was injured, was taken to Sulya Government Hospital, and later referred to the KVG Hospital.  A case has been registered at the Bellare police station in this regard.

Counter complaint:

Following this, Dharmapala has also registered a counter-complaint against his sister-in-law and niece Yashoda at the Bellare police station.

He alleged that his sister-in-law (i.e. wife of his brother Sundara Gowda) and her daughter Yashoda assaulted him with weapons when he was watering the plantation crops. Yashoda gave chase and pushed him to the ground due to which he sustained injuries, he alleged.

Dharmapala alleged that there was a property dispute between Sunadra Gowda’s daughters and son Kuldeep. Kuldeep was injured in a fall, Dharmapala said and added that the attack on him was motivated by the fact that he looked after Kuldeep.

Dharmapala is receiving medical treatment at Puttur Government Hospital.
