Kasaragod native arrested for smuggling 1.8 kg gold at Kannur Airport

Kasaragod: As much as 1.832 kg of smuggled gold was confiscated from an air passenger in a joint operation conducted by the Kannur Customs department and Passport Air Customs at Kannur International Airport.

The passenger, Shaishad of Kasaragod, has been arrested.

Based on intelligence inputs received by DRI about gold smuggling, the suspect was intercepted when he arrived at the Kannur International Airport from Sharjah on an Air India Express flight.

The gold was reportedly concealed in the form of 3 tablets made of gold paste in the passenger’s undergarments. Its value is estimated to be around Rs 1.03 Crores.
