Kalladka: Lorry carrying straw goes up in flames

Bantwal: A lorry transporting bales of straw was gutted in a fire near Dasakodi near Kalladka on Saturday.

The lorry was on its way to Mangaluru from Hassan when the mishap took place.

The fire was noticed when the lorry was moving on the highway. A battery short circuit is believed to be the cause of the blaze.

Fire tenders from Bantwal Fire Station rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze.

Bantwal Fire station personnel had a busy day as fire also broke out in the hilly areas of Bollai in Sajeepamuda, Bantaguri near Modankapu, and Pallamajal in the taluk on Saturday. Mangaluru fire brigade were called in to assist in dousing the fire at Bollai.
