Dragon Boat Championship: Karnataka emerge national champions, Delhi runners up

Brahmavara: The hosts Karnataka emerged as the champions at the 11th National-level Dragon Boat Championship held on the Swarna river at Uppoor here from February 23 to February 27. The team from Delhi was runners-up.
At the valedictory function held on Sunday, February 27, Member of Parliament and BJP Yuva Morcha National President, MP Tejasvi Surya distributed prizes to the winning teams.
The competitions were organized by the Udupi district administration in association with the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, and the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association.
Teams from 16 states including Karnataka, Delhi, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra participated in the event.
Tejasvi Surya opined that the coastal region is more suitable than Bengaluru for such sports.
If a training center is opened in the environment of Udupi, the youth can achieve a lot, said MLA K. Raghupati Bhat said.
State Commission for Backward Classes Chairman Jayaprakash Hegde, Udupi District Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao, and National President of Kayaking Association Prashant Kushwaha, among others were present.
