Bengaluru: A video clip showing Congress leader Siddaramaiah purportedly asking party cadre to bring in people to the Prajadhwani Yatra by paying them money has gone viral, propting sharp criticism from BJP and the JDS.
In the video clip, Siddaramaiah purportedly told party workers to pay Rs 500 to bring them tot he Prajadhwani Yatra.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that this was Congress’ legacy. They have been paying money for bringing in people, but it has only now been revealed, he said.
BJp also mocked Congress saying that the grand old party has such bad fortunes that it has to pay money to bring people to its conventions and public meetings.
JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy on the other hand said that Congress says that their Bhagya schemes have helped the society. If they have truly helped, do they need to pay money to people to come to their conventions, he asked.
Meanwhile, KPCC president DK Shivakumar has rejected all the allegations and tried to assuage the matter.
