Bengaluru: Global cloud-led, data-centric software company NetApp has partnered with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled to celebrate the spirit of women entrepreneurship ahead of International Women’s Day. The joint initiative is aimed at skilling economically challenged women in urban and rural areas. As part of this program, 47 women were trained under a three-month course focused on modular tailoring machine operations, design, fabric stitching, and creating garments for all ages and genders.

The program culminated in a graduation ceremony where the women were provided with special sewing machines to create employment opportunities and lead a self-reliant life. The ceremony was followed by an engaging session conducted by NetApp volunteers on the importance of financial independence.

Dr. Mahantesh G K, Founder Chairman, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, said, “Women across India are boldly moving towards making their mark as entrepreneurs. No matter how big or small the size of their business, they deserve to be celebrated and encouraged to be financially independent. I appreciate and thank NetApp for their efforts towards the upliftment of women and creating an environment for them to thrive.”

NetApp India HR Head & APAC Talent Acquisition Protima Achaya said, “For decades, women have shown prudence and a natural flair for entrepreneurship. Today, we are proud to be able to support their dreams and empower them to contribute to the economy. We believe that skilling programs are pivotal in helping women realize their entrepreneurial dreams, and we will continue to work to bring those to reality.”

The event also saw past beneficiaries of NetApp’s CSR Livelihood program come together to share their learnings and guide women on their business ventures. The program is part of NetApp’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) livelihood initiative.
