Puttur: A woman was found dead in the front yard of her residence in Birnahitlu of Chikkamutnur village in Puttur under suspicious circumstances on March 10.  The woman has been identified as Girija (45), wife of Koragappa.

The couple reportedly lived in the house with their two small children. However, on the evening of March 10, a neighbor woman noticed Girija lying in the yard of the house and immediately informed their acquaintances.

Upon receiving the information, the police and Panchayat President visited the place of the incident and inspected the area. The authorities have expressed doubt about the circumstances surrounding Girija’s death.

Koragappa was reportedly not at home at the time of the incident and was found sitting near a ditch, screaming loudly. He was subsequently interrogated by the police.

The deceased’s body has been kept in the Puttur Government Hospital’s mortuary while the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
