UT Khader: Congress’ safe bet in Mangaluru constituency!

Team Udayavani, Mar 14, 2023, 9:58 AM IST

Mangaluru constituency is a stronghold for the Congress party, making it relatively easy for the party to field a candidate without encountering much opposition.

UT Khader, the current MLA and a four-time elected member, is a popular candidate who has the support of a significant number of minority voters as well as other communities, making him a safe choice for Congress in this constituency.

Despite the Congress party’s dominance in Ullal, a large number of aspirants are surprisingly looking for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket for the upcoming election. Among these aspirants are Santosh Rai Boliyar, president of Mysore Electricals, and Satish Kumpala, a member of the Zilla Panchayat and a BJP organizer. Other potential candidates for the BJP include Chandrahasa Pandithouse, Chandrasekhara Uchila, and Ravindra Shetty.

The competition between Boliyar and Kumpala for the BJP ticket has raised concerns among the party’s leaders, as both candidates are actively seeking the nomination. Caste considerations appear to be a significant factor, with Boliyar and Kumpala currently leading the list.

Meanwhile, the Social Democratic Party of India is also planning to field a candidate, with Riaz Farangipet being a likely contender in the Ullal constituency.
