Mangaluru: Leader of Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha B.K. Hariprasad stated that the decision to disqualify Rahul Gandhi as an MP has proven that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP are moving towards autocracy, thereby destroying the basic tenets of democracy.

In a press conference held at the district Congress office in Mangaluru, Hariprasad expressed outrage over the disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from the post of MP.

Hariprasad condemned the “vengeful politics” of the BJP and accused them of showing “no respect for democracy.” He also mentioned that Congress will raise its voice legally and politically against the action taken against Rahul Gandhi.

When asked about the state government’s decision to drop the religious minority communities from 2B reservation, Hariprasad stated that it is an attempt to cancel the entire reservation.

He further added that the government should take spontaneous action against those who make statements that disturb harmony and call for genocide.

Responding to a question about the party’s candidate declaration for the upcoming elections, Hariprasad denied any conflict within the party and assured that the party is united.

The press conference was attended by D.K. District President Harish Kumar, Legislative Council Member Dr Manjunath Bhandari, and several other Congress leaders.
